Tractoroperated R.B.S.Cane Planter
Description:
This is a tractor mounted machine and can be drawn by any tractor of 35 hp or above in light and medium soil. This can be lifted or lowered by the hydraulic system of the tractor. The equipment performs following operations in single pass.
Planting of sugarcanes in two rows:
Cane planting includes
Opening of furrows at a spacing of 75 cm.
Cutting of cane into 37 cm. long setts
Placement of setts in the furrows
Droping of fertilizer below the setts
Dispensing the insecticide solution over the setts.
Covering the setts with soil and providing light compaction to minimise sett and soil moisture loss
Making of raised beds:
The machine makes two raised beds at a time. In fact, it makes one full raised bed between the furrowersand two half beds on either sides. Width of bed comes approx. 32 cm.
Drillingof seed and fertilizer on raised beds:
Through flutted roller metering device, wheat seed and fertilizer aredrilled in two rows on each bed. On half bed, the drilling is done in singlerow. Thus seed and fertilizer are drilled in four row at a time. Row to row spacing is 15 cm. on each bed. The fertilizer is drilled 1 cm. below the seed and 0.5 cm. apart. After drilling, soil is given light compaction.

SALIENT FEATURES:
Power to sett cutting, seed and fertilizer metering are provided through two grounds wheels. Thus metering of setts, fertilizer and seeds remains same, irrespective of make/model of tractor and gear of tractor.
Aseperater box has been provided in front of the machine for metering the fertilizer for sugarcane. A lever has been provided to adjust the required fertilizer rate.
Another seed-cum-fertilizer box has been provided in rear of the machine for storing seed and fertilizer for companion crop. Two levers have been provided to adjust seed and fertilizer rates.
Atthe backside of the machine a device (made of m.s. sheet and angle)has been provided to make raised beds. Seed and fertilizer drilling units are mounted on this device depth of seed placement is approx 2 em.
This raised bed forming device is mounted on the main frame and is spring loaded for finer adjustment. Holes have been provided on the mounting unit for adjustment of height of the raised beds and soil cover to the setts.
Soil cover to the setts and height of raised beds can be varied by cha nge of spread of wings of 5.5. furrower.
Top link of the three point linkage of system plays an important role in adjustment of depth of furrow opening and height of raised beds.
For containing insecticide solution, a PVC pipe container has been provided beneath the cane tray. Through stop cock, rate of application can be adjusted.
Maintenance Precaution:
The fertilizer box must be emptied and washed thoroughly every day.
Frequent tightening of nuts and bolts.
Cane cutting knives be checked and sharpened if needed.
Furrower shoe should be replaced when worn out.
Regular cleaning and lubrication of moving part.
The machine should be kept in shed and covered after use.
Annual painting is recommended.
Insecticide solution container be cleaned before the planting season and care should be taken that no foreign material goes into the container during filling.
Required Field Condition :
The field should be deeply ploughed and must be very well prepared. The field must be free from clods, stubbles and plant trashes. The field should have proper moisture for seed germination. It is recommended that the field should be irrigated immediately after planting through furrows for quick germination of seeds on raised beds. Tosave irrigation water and take better crop flooding must be avoided.
